Labor Day weekend proved to be very special to me and it was all because of a purchase I made last week.
We have had a lot of bridal showers and weddings and while going over the list of 'wants' on the registrys, I always notice that a panini maker was always included. So I HAD to have one.
Here we have the box that it came in. I had a choice of two at Target and I chose the cheaper one. Here's what it looks like, out of the box and on my counter. It was just sitting there minding it's own business when I got a request for bacon. So I said, bacon and eggs or bacon as in BLT's?
The answer I got back was both. We decided on a BLT with eggs (making it a 'belt') and then avocado's were added to the mix so what we literally end up making was 'a belt'. That wasn't the end of it there tho'. That panini maker was calling out my name and so, why not use it for breakfast?
And voila ! A grilled masterpiece. As I said, this panini maker was the highlight; oh, yeah except for, oh yeah, the kids were home. I almost forgot about them. They were the highlight. Really.
Here we have Maggie and her beau Evan. Maggie is in her last year of law school and has already landed a job for when she finishes school. Evan is a musican and artist.
This is my son Peter and his fiance, Maria. They are both actors at Artistic Home (and have other jobs too) and will be on stage next month together, which doesn't happen very often.
It was great to have all the kids here. We spent most of the time indoors (it was a cold weekend) and had a marathon of Bridezilla's shows that we watched and went through a lot of bride's magazines, looking for just the right bridesmaid dress. We even fit in a trip to the Blue Chip Casino for a little bit of gambling before celebrating Gordons birthday. Oh, and we used the panini maker again and again. It has already earned it's price and I haven't even had it for a week ! There's nothing like a new gadget that really works to make me happy. Oh, and the kids, of course.
