Happy Turkey Day

We have a local poet, Maggie Beyer, who is always coming up with adorable holiday poems. I have read this one before but I wanted to share it with you.

Cyberspace Calling,
A world full of change;
Websites and E-mail
Extending life's range;
We've gone electronic,
Toys following suit,
All heroes bionic,
With kids taking cue;

But Turkey Time's coming,
Thanksgiving is here,
Tradition emerges
As families draw near.
Bring out the platter
Meant just for this day,
The special cut crystal,
Packed safely away.

As change whirls around us,
It's sameness we crave;
The old things familiar,
The old customs saved;
Thanksgiving a day
We can hold to the past,
Knowing the real things
Of life can outlast.

Rich smells of cooking,
Remembered through years;
Warm hugs and greetings,
When old friends appear.
A day to be thankful,
As grateful heads bow,
Beliefs staying with us,
Still part of life's NOW.

I wish each and every one of you and your family and loved ones the very Happiest of Thanksgiving today. We have a lot to be thankful for.
