Yikes! Skypes!

Did you know that Donald Trump has never had a cup of coffee, an alcoholic beverage or a cigarette in his life? I was watching a E' biography on him and he seems to have known what he wanted out of life at a very young age. Personally I can't imagine being that disciplined but it takes all kinds.

It is too windy and cold to roller blade so I just watched tv and went through brides magazines to get ideas for Maggie's wedding. I tore out all the stuff that caught my eye and I will run it by the bride to get her yeah or neigh.

Have you heard of Skype? It is a free download that turns your computer into a telephone. Kelly, my teen angel (although no longer a teen), who happens to be Regina's daughter, is in Grenoble, France. for the semester and mother and daughter have been communicating via Skype. Not wanting to miss a thing, I too downloaded the program and got G to get me a microphone

that plugs into the microphone jack in the computer. It costs about $15 and is amazing. I was on the phone with Regina for a couple hours; she went to watch Amazing Race and I watched my taped Idol but we remained connected and talked during commercials. I have the advantage in that my tv and computer are in the same room. Regina had to go back and forth.

It seems that because I had all new episodes of Idol scheduled to tape from last year, it continued on and taped the two beginning episodes of this season while I was gone. It may be my imagination but I think the whole group of judges are kinder. They also have a new gesture that they do to have the singing stop. If any of them put up their hand, the singer discontinues their singing. Obviously the contestants were told of this prior to entering the judging room because they all did stop whenever a hand went up. It's mindless tv and every now and then I get a little entertainment out of it.

So are you watching Dance Wars on Monday nights? Bruno and Carrie Ann. I don't know the point, the prize or what but the kids are so much more talented than my fave Idol, but I watch them both.

I have friends that are using Skype to talk to their kids overseas. The problem is their kids are in Japan and Australia. The time difference makes it tough, but what a great deal.

I love the Idol tryouts. The hairy guy with the belly dancers skirt and breastplate burned my retinas the other night though. It's too fun to miss.

Hmmm....I keep missing Idol because there is always something else on. Have the Larionov girls been on yet? Their dad, Igor, played hockey for the Red Wings for many years and the girls would occasionally sing the National Anthem- pretty good practice for two little girls to sing in front of 20K+ people live plus being on TV. They must be teens now....
