China Girl 10 - Beijing Peninsula Hotel

Back to China; When in Beijing, we stayed at the Peninsula Hotel as part of the tour package. You can really see how bad the economy is if they are putting tour groups in one of the nicest hotels in the world.
Just getting out of the car in the front of the hotel was eye candy. These flowers remind me of the flowers we made for Maggie's wedding. These are much bigger than the ones we made
but it's the same idea. I couldn't tell if they were also made with paper or whether it was a thin plastic. The store window was for Chanel. The hotel is part of a very upscale shopping district.
These adorable guys greeted us at the doorway.
Check out this massive orchid arrangement. I am glad that backpack boy is there so you can see how big it is.
Our room had this little array of treats for us when we entered. That little bowl is orchid water, in case we need it to put our fingers in.
This top part, with the fruit, had in it a tiny little bamboo steamer. I wanted to take it but resisted the urge.
I did not resist the urge to have a chocolate tho'. Even the chop sticks were chocolate. By the way, I still don't know how to use chopsticks. We were also housed on the floor that has the executive lounge. We could have high tea, happy hour and breakfast at no additional charge. We did 'em all!!!
The rooms were very Western in style. You couldn't tell you were in China in there.
This photo of the bedside controls was necessary to share. I have never seen such a comprehensive system of lights, telephone, tv, hvac and clock controls rolled into one console. We didn't have to get out of bed for anything!!!!
