What To Wear?

I don't care if you are a republican or a democrat or an independent or a zoo animal; you have an opinion. This is not a political statement because as I have said before, I don't know enough to voice any political knowledge. I do however, have a monochrome of taste.

Here we have the current and last First Lady. Gee, I can't quite figure out why all the fuss is made about Michelle's great clothing style. But then, that's just me.

I think what Michelle Obama is wearing is fine. She was on a trip to the Grand Canyon with her family. It would be a little awkward to wear a suit there, especially since this picture was taken in the middle of the summer.

I think they are both wearing outfits that are appropriate to their own personalities and the occasion. I respect and appreciate both the former First Lady and the current one.

Personally, I think Michelle could have made a better choice out of the L. L. Bean catalog (even if she was at the Grand Canyon). She didn't just hike or ride a mule out of it, she was getting off a plane!

I'm with you ... vacation or not ... it was a plane ride not down in the dirt.

I agree. When you know you are in the limelight; you can dress appropriately. After you do represent our country, even if you are not proud of it.

I have not been much impressed with much of her wardrobe choices. With all the help she has and funds I expected better all round.

It just may be what you or I would wear to the Grand Canyon... but, she is *not* just a tourist anymore. Everything she says, does, wears or goes is a reflection of her position... like it or not. It behooves (I just used that word in a sentence!) her to take this more seriously. IMHO, it all went downhill with her Black Widow dress on election night.

I think it must be awful to have your every move, mispoken word, outfit, hairdo, expression, childhood crush, hiccup...taken out and critiqued or ridiculed. It must be a terrible weight on Mrs. Obama's shoulders. Maybe she just felt like wearing shorts that day. Give it a rest.

I love fashion controversy! I guess I just think that her wearing shorts doesn't mean she doesn't take her position as first lady seriously, and I think she looks fine. I also think Laura Bush looks great.

I agree with you, I think a First Lady has a standard to live up to and she just is not. They are trying so hard to LOOK like they are the same as everyone else, but the truth is they really don't feel that way. Dignity is what she should uphold and that's not what's happening.

michelle looks like a daughter in law that I don't want to have; much less a first lady. You people that are anonymous and can't bare your name? You are pathetic. She needs a clothing coach - - - badly.

I want to throw up. Michelle Obama is a disgrace to the right thing to do.

Very ugly comments here.

Don't have to ask who the nasty commenters to this nasty post. I could actually go through and list the name of the commenters. Your post just brought out the *bitch* in me, and that is no easy feat!

Wow, I can't believe how critical everyone is here of our President's wife. She is a beautiful woman, and who cares if what she wears isn't your idea of "style"? Not me.

If she was at the Grand Canyon that outfit is okay, maybe could have been a little more put together. If she is getting off of a plane after being at the Grand Canyon she probably should have changed. Last evening as I was waiting to be seated at a restaurant I noticed the different style of clothing people were wearing. It wasn't a super upscale restaurant, but it wasn't McDonalds. I saw people dressed very nicely and then I saw some with their shirts hanging half in and out, baseball caps, sweatshirts and t-shirts. People in this country are not as stylish as they are in other countries. Once I went to the Chicago Symphony and I saw people in T-shirts advertising whatever. "What Not To Wear" would have had a field day with these people. Unfortunately, when you put yourself in the limelight the scrutiny of everything you do and don't do is fair game.
