Who Knew?

Arlington National Cemetery

Readers may be interested to know that these wreaths -- some 5,000 -- are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington,Maine. The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He's done this since 1992. A wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to DC with this event to help out. Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one the poorest parts of the state.

It's so nice to read a story like this, especially now. What a kind man he must be.It's another case of one person doing one important thing to make a difference. Thanks Tommy, I never would have known about this and it's the kind of thing more people should know about and do.

I believe you can support this man's business by buying wreaths directly from him as well (
They used to be the suppliers for L.L. Bean, but not this year.

NOTHING great about this!!! If Harrington is one of the poorest places in the State, then that FOOL of a man should be using the money to provide Christmas dinners to the poor or to the Families left behind. There is nothing heroic in getting yourself killed in a stupid war....started by people whose own children won't or don't go to fight for their fathers' cause.
The Merrill man not only gets free advertisement, he also gets a tax deduction!!! Did his sons go to war?

That's a great story Tom. Any benefits this man gets from his tribute to the young men and women that have died for this country is well deserved. Make a difference!
