Ring Around

Here is baby.

This is the first time I saw her sitting up on her own; she had just woken up from a nap and about six of us crowded into her room; hence the scowl.
Here are tag rings for baby.

Here is a tutorial on how to make a tag ring for baby.
There is only one pattern piece you will need and it is a circle that is 6 inches in diameter and a 2 7/8 " circle cut out of the center. You will need two of these cut out of lively fabric. Next, cut one strip of fabric 1 3/4" wide and 12" long. Cut another 24" long and 1 1/2" wide.

Take the long 24" strip and decide how many tags you want to insert. Cut the strip and add a tag loop and place right sides together and so back together.
I have found that if you sew this seam open, the tag will stay upright. Make sure that when you are sewing the seam open, you move the tag away from that side so you don't sew it down too.
Here is what the strip looks like with the tags sewn in.
Place one circle down and with right sides together, sew a 1/4 seam adding the tag strip down the outside circle. When you get to the beginning leave a quarter inch of fabric to sew the ends together.
Here is is when the strip is almost down completely.
I then sewed the seam down to one side or another for a cleaner line although you don't have to.
With the other circle sew the 12" strip with right sides together to the inside circle.
Then you sew the two circles together (again, right sides together) on the outside circle
Turn it to it's right side, bringing up the small circle add on through the center and pin, turning under the seams.
Using a needle and thread, do a small whip stitch to secure the pinned edges, leaving a small section free to stuff with fiberfill.
After it is stuffed, pin the remainder together and stitch closed.
Now you have a delightful, fun baby ring. Christmas is coming and any babies on your Christmas list will love you even more when they get a hand made toy made with love. Violet already has hers!!!

Thank you for the tute. So cute. I just made a baby quilt and have some bright leftover fabric from it that I will use to make one. (And maybe more!)
