Lesson Learned

Well, it's pretty firm that I am not allowed to buy big things on line, sight unseen. Both G and I have committed to the fact that I have no idea what the hell I am getting, quality wise, and having it drop shipped is bad enough, but then to try and put together something that clearly doesn't fit together is another thing all together. I purchased a small indoor/outdoor set for a small screened in porch off the studio. I thought it was good looking and a pretty good deal but it was none of the above. It was junk. G spent a day trying to assemble it and then left home for a while to cool off and came back to try again, with the same result. He had already broken down the boxes and they were out on the curb for recycling. He just got mad and reassembled the boxes, repacked the order and got on the phone to the company in California and told him his difficulties and they were very nice and asked if he could take pictures of the problem. He took the pictures and all was well, we could return the poorly manufactured items. That was early last week. It took another week to get the shipping labels correct and then the freight service was to deliver from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. yesterday. G was on the phone at 5:20 asking what was up and the freight company said that the 8 to 5 window was for commercial locations and residential was 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. We had to wait all day for pick up when we didn't need to. Yuck! The guy in the big truck rolled in at a quarter to 8. He looked beat. I learned my lesson.

We gave up on patio furniture from any big box stores - doesn't matter Sams, Costco, Home Depot etc, the FL weather just eats up the crappy made in China furniture! Check out Palm Casual, you will pay, but it will be what you want, great quality, made here in Florida - fully assembled and you can select your fabrics & frames!
