Oh Deer

When Bella and I went out in late afternoon for a walk she was completely spooked by the change of landscape on our street. It's that time of year again for the replenishment of the mulch and they do it around here with gusto.

First it's the delivery of the pallets at each house. Then the group of landscapers take the pallet's plastic off and and hop in a little truck and with all the mulch they can take they drop it off, around the yard about two feet apart. Then they proceed to slash the bags open and distribute it all over the old weary mulch. It's a much better look when it is done.

Nature lover that I am, I was taking out a garbage can after dusk for early morning pickup when I felt something brush by me. I was shocked to see three deer go past so close to me that I felt the touch. The neighborhood is very well lit but they came out of the right and caught me, and I am sure themselves too, by surprise.

I have to prepare for a Periodontal appointment this morning and then it's off to Games Day at a restaurant. This is my first time going to this but I know that there will be Hand and Foot and Mahjong being played, with lunch thrown in for good measure. I don't know, what's with it that everyone I know has to go to all these specialist dentists? Somehow our parents survived to a ripe old age for the most part without needing a home loan to take care of our teeth!!!

We had a deer walk down the street in back of the house in Ocala two years ago...guess gated communities can't even keep out the deer! Fun to see isn't it!
