Although the basil can still grow in the next month, unless I take the seven large pots with me to Florida or have my house sitter harvest it in a month or so (not!) I decided to tackle the pesto problem head on.
I cut off the stalks, removed the leaves, traveled to the store to buy more olive oil, pine nuts, parmesan, and garlic and proceeded to whip up ten more large portions
of pesto to get us, and others, through the winter. One thing is now off my list of things I need to attend to before I set off to parts south!
